Audition Opportunities

Scroll down for news about upcoming opportunities to audition for Next Generation Arts Council!

Auditions are required for every production at Next Generation Arts Council. While audition requirements are subject to change for each production, performers auditioning can expect to sing a 16-32 bar Musical Theatre cut. Performers should also be prepared to learn a short dance combination.

Invited callbacks may take place in the days after auditions. Not everyone will be invited to callbacks. Callbacks are not a measure of talent, nor are they an presumption of casting. Performers that are called back are not guaranteed to be in the cast, and performers that are not called back may still be in the cast.

Email NextGenerationArtsDC@gmail.com with subject line "Auditions" with any questions.

YOUNG@PART

Next Generation is dying to see you audition for our upcoming production!

Auditions will be August 25 and 26 (come to one only) at the KENTLANDS MANSION, 320 Kent Square Road, Gaithersburg, MD 20878 (directly across from the Gaithersburg Arts Barn), from 6:15-8:45 pm. Please arrive on time and plan to stay the entire time on the day that you audition. Callbacks, if needed, will be held on August 27 and/or August 28. Please keep both evenings available.

Auditions are open for performers ages 10-18.* Next Generation Arts Council encourages performers of all backgrounds, ethnicities, gender identities, abilities, and experience levels to audition. Auditioners will be considered for all roles.

WHAT TO PREPARE:
Be ready to sing 16-32 bars (no more than 30-60 seconds) of a song of your choosing (but see guidelines below). Dress in clothing you can move in, with sneakers or dance shoes. Please no boots, crocks, flip flops or other clunky or
loose shoes. Bring a water bottle. Do not bring food.

GUIDLINES FOR SONG CHOICE:
Give some thought to the song you want to perform to be sure that it shows your singing and acting/storytelling ability and is appropriate both for your age as a performer and for a young audience.  There are non-singing/non-solo roles in the show, but everyone must sing for the audition.   We strongly recommend, but do not require, a musical theatre-style song.

PLEASE DO NOT sing a song from this show.

PLEASE BRING a pre-recorded musical accompaniment,
pre-downloaded to a device so that you do not need to rely on the internet to play it, or be prepared to sing a cappella.

PLEASE PRINT AND COMPLETE the following forms and bring them to auditions!
